Curb Appeal 101

When assessing your homes curb appeal , consider how it looks to someone seeing it for the first time. Here are some factors that contribute to curb appeal:

  1. Landscaping
  2. Outdoor Lighting
  3. Front Porch
  4. Exterior Paint

Landscaping:

Well-kept lawns and plants can improve the overall look of your property. Flowering and Non-flowering plants and shrubs are a great way to make a big impact with minimal effort. Two of the most commonly used shrubs are the boxwood (non-flowering) and the hydrangea (flowering) – though there are numerous varieties, so be sure to consider several important factors:

Once you identify these four important factors, you can begin researching the best shrubs and varieties for your home.  Don’t forget to use your local Plant & Tree Nurseries, they can be a wealth of information and tips, and likely have what you need right there on hand.

Outdoor Lighting:

Proper Lighting can make your home look warm and inviting, especially in the evenings.  It also helps increase safety and security.

Porch:

Consider the front porch the first room of your home.  You want it to be inviting, warm a reflection of what lies beyond the front door.  (Updating your porch light fixture doubles in this category as well, it’s a two-for-one upgrade!)
